Transfer News: Liverpool target Ousmane Dembele has a £42 million release clause in his contract.
A recent report by SPORT (h/t Mirror) is claiming that Premier League champions Liverpool have launched an inquiry to Barcelona about a potential loan deal for the services of Ousmane Dembele.
Liverpool were among the most inactive teams in the transfer market until a while ago. The confirmed signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich seems to have come as a trigger for the club to launch into a flurry of activity.
The need for an additional attacker to provide cover to the winger has been no secret. And the player that’s been touted most recently is Barcelona’s French winger Dembele. (h/t Mirror)
Having already brought in Thiago as well as Greek full-back Kostas Tsimikas, Dembele could quite possibly be the club’s third signing of the summer. Despite already acquiring his primary target in the former Bayern Munich man, Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to have a busy few weeks before the transfer window closes. (h/t Mirror)
Although the report has clarified that Wolves star Adama Traore and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr are also being targeted, a move for Ousmane Dembele has been touted. It is claimed that the Reds want the World Cup winner to make the switch to Merseyside on a season-long loan deal. (h/t Mirror)

Despite this, the report claims that Barcelona are uninterested in sending their highly-rated speedster on loan. Dembele arrived at the Nou Camp for a mammoth transfer fee of €105m back in 2017. But, injuries have seriously affected his playing time.
With Klopp said to be looking for players to provide competition to his current front-three, signing a player of Dembele’s quality would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction by the Premier League champions.
