Liverpool make enquiry for African star who could cost more than £36m

Liverpool inquire about the situation of Watford’s Ismaila Sarr

As per a report by the Daily Mail, Premier League champions Liverpool continue to have an interest in Watford winger Ismaila Sarr

. In fact, it is being claimed that they have sent an inquiry to the Hornets about his situation.

Although it has been clarified that no official bid has been made by the Anfield club, he is being considered quite seriously as a back-up options to their current attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. The Reds are said to be weighing up their options, with Sarr clearly on he shortlist. (h/t Daily Mail

Ismaila Sarr impressed in his debut PL season

While the fact that he just joined the Hornets last summer might’ve been a motivating sign for Liverpool, their transfer demand of at least £36m is likely to come as the biggest hindrance to the Reds’ chase. (h/t Daily Mail)

With the Vicarage Road club seemingly keen to return to the Premier League next season as well, it’s unclear as to whether or not they’re willing to sanction his sale. Despite this, considering that they find themselves in the Championship this season, a strong enough offer could tempt the Hornets to sell. (h/t Daily Mail

Liverpool’s run to the league title last season was a commendable achievement to say the least. But, expecting history to repeat itself without adapting to the changed situation would have been foolhardy.

Liverpool have made two signings so far this summer in Kostas Tsimikas and Thiago Alcantara. However, bringing in quality cover for the vaunted attacking trident remains a priority.

Sarr was one of the few Watford players who shone in their shock 3-0 victory over Liverpool, with the Senegalese winger making quite the impression by scoring twice.

Having joined Watford for £30m last summer, he went on to score six times and provide a further six assists over the course of the last campaign. The quality that Sarr brings to the table is obvious. But, whether or not Liverpool are able to lure him to Merseyside is a whole other question altogether.
