Transfer News: PL rivals eyeing an ambitious move for Liverpool midfield ace

Wolves are considering a bid for Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The mood around Liverpool football club has been extremely positive for the last couple of season. Having won the Champions League a couple of years ago, the Reds backed it up with a Premier League title last time around.

With the new season now underway, Liverpool look like they’ve picked up exactly where they left off. The win against Chelsea portrayed the Reds in a convincing manner. And the addition of Thiago to the side has certainly bolstered their quality.

One player who’s unlikely to be very happy about the signing though, is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

. The former Arsenal man was a key player in the Anfield club’s midfield last season. But the arrival of the Spanish playmaker could put a spanner in the Englishman’s hopes of getting regular first-team football.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on Wolves’ radar

Despite their involvement in a flurry of competitions, the number of options they have in the middle of the park could be a concern for the midfielder. A recent report by the Mirror is now claiming that fellow Premier League side Wolves are eyeing up a shock move for his services.

It has been claimed that Wolves will look to take advantage of the situation, with Oxlade-Chamberlain having been pushed further down Jurgen Klopp’s well-stacked pecking order.

The biggest attraction for Klopp is the fact that he offers a direct goal threat from the core of the team – an ability that the other Reds midfielders don’t really possess. Not only did he make 43 appearances across all competitions for the Reds last season, but he also managed to fine the back of the net on eight occasions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Having picked up a knee injury during the pre-season tour, his return to the first-team picture has been delayed this season. Wolves’ desire to sign the talented 27-year-old is understandable. But, whether or not Klopp is willing to part with his services is a whole other question altogether.
