Transfer News: Leicester City join Liverpool, Spurs, and Chelsea in pursuit of Patson Daka

According to a report by The Express, Leicester City are the latest club to join Liverpool in their pursuit of Patson Daka in the summer transfer window.

The RB Salzburg striker has made big waves in the Austrian league. He managed 29 goals in 36 games in all competitions and has since caught the eye of several big clubs in England.

Apart from the Foxes and the Reds, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the striker. The report mentions that the Foxes, with an ageing Jamie Vardy, could offer Daka a better chance of first-team football.

Daka slotted into a Salzburg attack that had a big void to fill after Erling Haaland left for Borussia Dortmund in January 2020. The Norwegian departed the club for a fee of around £17million and Daka could also leave for a similar transfer fee.

Battle for Patson Daka

The 22-year-old striker presents himself as a great option for us in the attack. Roberto Firmino wasn’t at his goal-scoring best last year while Divock Origi could leave the club, according to The Express

Amid this, Daka would be a solid option for us. The news of more teams being interested in him is, of course, detrimental to Liverpool’s hopes of signing him.

Then, there’s also the possibility of him turning out like his predecessor at Salzburg, Haaland. If that happens, teams would regret waiting around him as his value skyrockets.

It was recently stated by Zambia Observer (h/t Liverpool Echo), as covered by The Kop Times, that Daka ‘will be announced’ as a Liverpool player. But with more teams now after Daka, it remains to be seen where the striker ends up.
