“Day light robbery” – Some fans in disbelief as Liverpool duo make headlines in Wales’ defeat

Liverpool fans hold left shocked as Neco Williams and Harry Wilson flop for Wales vs Denmark

Liverpool don’t have a lot of players left at UEFA Euros 2020 but the opportunity to see two of them in action in just one game arose again as Wales took on Denmark.

Neco Williams and Harry Wilson are not regular starters at Liverpool but the duo made the cut for Wales’ final Euros 2020 squad. Both of them did not start the game against Denmark.

This was Wales’ chance to emulate the success they had at Euros 2016 by qualifying for the quarter-final again. But things went awry real fast.

Kasper Dolberg opened the scoring around the half-hour mark. Neco Williams was then brought on for Connor Roberts after an injury to the right-back just before half-time.

A day to forget for Wilson and Williams

Just three minutes into the second half, a weak left-footed clearance from Williams inside the box landed straight in Dolberg’s feet. The Ajax man finished it with deadly accuracy and the Welsh then had a mountain to climb.

Chances came and went for Wales but the game was put to bed in the 88th minute when Joakim Maehle continued his great form to score his side’s third goal of the evening.

Harry Wilson was brought on just a minute before the hour mark and was largely quiet. However, he found his way to the spotlight in added time when he was sent off in added time. The 24-year-old Liverpool winger made a tactical foul that would be a yellow card offence in most referee’s books. But Daniel Siebert showed Wilson a straight red to compound Wales’ misery.

Both players are also linked with an exit this summer. According to Liverpool Echo, as covered by The Kop Times, Wilson and Williams can potentially seek pastures new in the coming weeks.
