Liverpool agree to sell 22-year-old goalkeeper for £3million

Transfer News: Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara off to FC Copenhagen

According to a report by The Athletic (Subscription Required), Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara is set to join Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

The 22-year-old Polish goalkeeper joined the Reds in January 2016 from Ruch Chorzow in his native country for a £250,000 fee. He has failed to make a single senior appearance for the Reds during that time.

He has enjoyed two different loan spells in Denmark with Aarhus GF. With the goalkeeping situation sorted out at Anfield in the past few weeks, a move for Grabara made sense for all parties.

Liverpool offered new contracts to backup goalkeepers Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian, who will be the No.2 and No.3 respectively, behind Alisson Becker in goal. (h/t The Athletic) [Subscription Required]

Grabara bids farewell

It was evident that there was no future for him at Anfield anymore and moving to Copenhagen, a prominent name in European football with past appearances in the UEFA Champions League comes as a timely move with regards to his career.

The Reds will receive a £3million transfer fee, which is handy money for a player not in the senior team. Liverpool’s goalkeeper situation is all set with Alisson the undisputed first-choice name.

Adrian was his backup when he signed from West Ham United, but Kelleher, the now Irish international, displaced him from that position during the last campaign. There is no need for the club to strengthen that area as of now.

The focus should be on signing someone in attack and midfield. The club’s front line is feared across Europe but the bench fails to complement that threat in equal measures.

More Liverpool News:

As for a midfielder, the exit of Georginio Wijnaldum has left a void screaming to be filled in Liverpool’s midfield. It remains to be seen if the Reds sign more players, having already secured Ibrahima Konate’s signature.
