Transfer News: Liverpool leading the race for Newcastle United starlet Bobby Clark
According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are leading the race to land Newcastle United starlet Bobby Clark this summer.
The 16-year-old is the son of former Newcastle and Sunderland star Lee Clark and has been making waves at the youth level. His performances have seen the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich all show interest.
As it stands, Liverpool appear to have left their rivals behind in the race to land the teenager. The Reds have placed their faith in youth in recent years and this has played a key role in influencing Clark’s decision.
The youngster made his Under-18 debut for the Magpies at the tender age of 14 back in 2019. He is expected to move on to bigger and better things and is held in high regard by the Tyneside club.
Liverpool have brought in some exciting young talents in recent years. Harvey Elliott is on the cusp of breaking into the first-team squad while Mateusz Musialowski recently penned his first professional contract. Whether Clark will soon join their ranks remains to be seen.
With the coronavirus pandemic spreading chaos in the football world, finances for transfers are a major issue. This has once again brought to the fore the importance that academies play in developing young talent.
There are a number of young layers coming through the ranks at Anfield and it augurs well for the club’s future. The fact that these players will also add to the homegrown quota is an added bonus.
