“Don’t have words”: Liverpool new signing reacts after Anfield debut

Liverpool new boy Ibrahima Konate opens up about playing at Anfield for the first time

Liverpool have officially concluded their pre-season fixtures. The Reds finished off their preparations with a 3-1 victory over CA Osasuna. Takumi Minamino opened the scoring for Reds, which was followed by a brace from Roberto Firmino.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the Anfield debut of Ibrahima Konate. The former RB Leipzig man was awestruck in front of 40,000 Liverpool supporters. However, the nerves did not get to him. Konate enjoyed a solid outing, showcasing his defending abilities and distribution. He was subbed off at the 80th minute.

Konate’s reaction

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the contest, Konate struggled for words to describe his feelings. The Frenchman went on to say that the atmosphere was amazing.

“To be honest, I don’t have the words to explain my feelings when I put my first foot on the pitch. It’s amazing and I’m very happy to have my first game at Anfield with fans.”

Konate further insisted that he cannot imagine what the atmosphere would be like during a Premier League or a Champions League contest.

“Today was amazing. I cannot imagine the stadium in the Premier League or Champions League.”

Fortunately for Konate, he will not have to wait for long.

Liverpool will start their Premier League campaign on 14th August. The Reds will face the newly-promoted Norwich City away at Carrow Road before taking on Burnley at home the weekend after.

Konate would be in contention for a start. Both Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are coming off of long term injuries. Hence, it would not be a surprise if either of them is left out for Konate.
