Correio da Manha via Paisley Gates (h/t Liverpool Echo) reported the latest about Liverpool and their interest in Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.
According to the report, the Ligue 1 champions are prepared to sell Sanches and have set the asking price for the midfielder. £29.6m is the figure that could be enough to land the Portuguese. Liverpool are a potential destination for Sanches, However, the club will face heavy competition
from Arsenal and Barcelona.Sanches, who was a key member of the team that won the title last term, has started the 2021/22 season. He played full 90 minutes in their 3-3 draw against Metz this past weekend.
The 23-year-old has had many ups and downs in his career. Sanches broke through the ranks of Benfica. He made 35 first-team appearances for the Portuguese club before securing his big first move, as Bayern Munich signed him in 2016.
His career went on a freefall since then. He had a loan spell at Swansea – a move that did not work either. Ultimately, Bayern lost their patience. He was sold to Lille in 2019.
The midfielder has regained his stock since. He was a regular in midfield for the 20/21 Ligue 1 winning outfit and played an important part in former manager Christophe Galtier’s setup.
Liverpool have only signed Ibrahima Konate as of now. The club are losing ground compared to rivals. Likes of Manchester United and City have already made big moves in the market. The club are yet to replace Gini Wijnaldum. Hence, signing Sanches could be a huge boost for Liverpool.
