Transfer News: Liverpool tipped to be frontrunners for Erling Haaland

According to transfer news from Sport1 (h/t Mirror), Liverpool have been tipped as frontrunners for Erling Haaland. Former Bundesliga striker Michael Rummenigge suggested that the Dortmund striker could move to Liverpool instead of Real Madrid or Barcelona because of their financial situation.

There’s not a superlative left to describe what Erling Haaland has done so far in his fledgeling career. Ever since making his move to Dortmund, he has taken Europe by storm with his goals. Last season, he scored an astonishing 41 goals in 41 games for Dortmund and helped them push through for a top-four finish.

Erling Haaland has been sensational for Dortmund

Haaland has been linked with a move to Europe’s elite for quite a while now. Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are just some of them. Another name that is already a star in Europe is Kylian Mbappe. The PSG man is a talent to behold and, much like Haaland, does not shy away from scoring goals at a rapid rate.

Michael Rummenigge, former Dortmund striker spoke about the duo that will dominate football in the future. However, he added that it is Liverpool where Haaland might make the move.

“Yes. They could get there. We’ll have to wait and see where he (Haaland) goes after this season. Real and Barca have financial problems so I could imagine him moving to England. His father used to play there too. I could well imagine Liverpool for Haaland.”

Any deal for Haaland might not take place this season but with a release clause set to kick in next summer, Liverpool might put themselves in the fray for his signature. Haaland would no doubt add a whole different edge to the Reds’ already deadly attack.
