According to Liverpool Echo, Loris Karius has no future at Liverpool while Sheyi Ojo can also depart on a loan spell this summer.
Ojo, now 24, has been something of a journeyman during his time as a Reds player. Having come through the club’s famed youth academy, he has been loaned out several times.
The English right-winger has spent time at Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stade Reims, Rangers, and most recently, Cardiff City – for whom he was a regular in the Championship last season.
It is evident that he has no real future at Liverpool considering Jurgen Klopp has kept loaning him out. Now in the last year of his contract, another loan spell could be on the cards.
That, of course, risks losing the player for free next year but the Reds are anyway unlikely to attract a sizeable fee for him right now. As for Karius, the German stopper could be headed for the exit door too.
He arrived at Liverpool amidst much hype back in 2016, but a dreadful outing against Real Madrid in the 2018 UEFA Champions League final all but ended his Liverpool career.
The former Mainz man has not appeared in competitive games for Liverpool since. The report adds that a return to Germany is still a possibility as he has now entered the last 12 months of his deal.
These two players are pretty much the most expendable assets in the senior team right now. Ojo and Karius are as far removed from first-team action as one can be at Liverpool, and them leaving is unlikely to have any impact on Klopp’s plans for the new season.
