Journo claims 33-year-old Bundesliga striker offered to Liverpool amongst other PL teams

Transfer News: Robert Lewandowski offered to Liverpool

According to Ian McGarry, who spoke on the Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Liverpool ECHO), Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Robert Lewandowski. Apparently, the Poland hitman is in search of a new challenge and that could see him leave Bayern Munich despite two more years remaining on his deal.

In a rather surprising turn of events, Robert Lewandowski is looking for a move away from the club after seven record-breaking seasons at Bavaria. During that time he has cemented his place as arguably one of the best strikers on the continent. The recently turned 33-year-old has envious numbers for the club with 297 goals in 331 games

Even last season, he managed to pummel a staggering 41 Bundesliga goals, thereby breaking the legendary Gerd Muller’s 49-year-old record. He was also well responsible for Bayern’s epic treble back in 2020. However, speculation has arisen regarding his future in recent weeks over the claim that he wants a new challenge.

It has come to the fore that his agent, Pini Zahavi has offered the striker to some Premier League clubs including Liverpool. Ian McGarry shed some light on the issue.

“Lewandowski has been offered to Liverpool, to Manchester United and to Manchester City, each of whom have expressed a tepid amount of interest in the player regarding the possibility of signing him. However, each of them has also said that the €110 million (£94.44m) which Bayern are leaking to the German media that they would require to allow Lewandowski to leave is far too much for a player of that age.”

It remains to be seen if Liverpool would pay that much for a Jurgen Klopp-Lewandowski reunion. He is a star name, no doubt, but the fact remains that Liverpool have a formidable attack already. There does not seem to be any need to add another player in the same department and cause selection headaches- especially one who is 33.
