Transfer News: Liverpool are looking to complete a move for Femi Azeez from Reading
According to transfer news from CaughtOffside (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are trying to get a deal over the line for youngster Femi Azeez before deadline day.
The Anfield outfit could be keen on strengthening their frontline this season even though they already possess the likes of Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Divock Origi. However, given the fact that Xherdan Shaqiri left the club earlier this month, the Reds could be looking to fill that vacancy.
Femi Azeez could be a viable option for the Reds as he would provide quite a youthful approach to Jurgen Klopp’s side. The 20-year-old was impressive for Reading in the Premier League 2 last year as he racked up 17 appearances and scored 10 goals in the process. Moreover, he also managed to feature in 1 Championship game for the club.
The Englishman has also had a fine start to the season this year as he has already featured in 4 games for the Royals and has managed to score 2 goals as well.
However, a deal for the youngster is yet to be concluded as he is yet to agree on personal terms with the Merseyside outfit. The Reds are also said to be looking to offer a ‘potential’ £75,000-a-week deal to the 20-year-old if the youngster does decide to move to Anfield this summer.
The Reds can provide Azeez with the prospect of Champions League and Premier League football but might not be able to guarantee him consistent minutes.

However, given Jurgen Klopp’s tendency to play youngsters, as he has shown over the years with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, Neco Williams, Curtis Jones, Azeez could be provided with some game-time at one of the top clubs in England.
While that is the case, Liverpool will have to rush to complete this deal as there are less than three days left until the transfer window shuts.
