Transfer News: Liverpool could have to pay £40m for Yves Bissouma

According to transfer news from Liverpool Echo (h/t Mirror), Liverpool may have to shell out £40m if they want to sign Yves Bissouma. Brighton have slapped that substantial price tag on their prized asset if he is to exit the club this summer. Manchester United and Arsenal are also understood to be after the midfielder.

It’s tough to argue that Liverpool really need any more signings and it’s also hard to see them facing an injury crisis like last season. However, one can never be sure of the latter which means that certain departments need new names to bolster them.

Central midfield is one of them due to the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman was a dynamo in midfield for the club but will be playing for PSG now. 

Liverpool are not exactly blessed with the best midfield honestly speaking. A lot of names such as Thiago, Naby Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain have yet to step up to the challenge and it is understandable why Liverpool have been looking to bring in Brighton star Yves Bissouma.

The Reds were said to have made an approach for him but with Brighton already selling Ben White over the summer, they are reluctant to let go of Bissouma. However, it seems that Brighton would be willing to sell him only if their asking price of £40m is met.

So, now Liverpool know how much they have to stump up if they want their man. It’s definitely a substantial amount in this climate but such is the price of quality players.

Bissouma is a good young midfielder who can produce a similar impact to Wijnaldum and Liverpool should look to bring him in if they want to add more depth to their midfield.
