Transfer News: Liverpool unlikely to make another signing this summer

According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano for Benchwarmers (h/t Express), Liverpool are unlikely to make more signings this summer. The Reds will only pursue bargain deals and could see Divock Origi leave before the deadline. Else, there is the feeling that this is what Jurgen Klopp will be taking into the season.

Liverpool have been one of the quietest Premier League sides in the summer transfer window. While rival clubs such as Chelsea and both Manchester clubs have splashed the cash on numerous signings, the Reds have sat back after the signing of Ibrahima Konate. Since then, there has hardly been any movement apart from the sale of Xherdan Shaqiri.

It’s not that Liverpool have not kept their eyes on players. Names such as Renato Sanches have been on the radar but the interest was not followed on due to his injury. It has given opportunities to players such as Harvey Elliott who has impressed in the opening games. From what it looks like, Liverpool are seemingly done in the transfer window.

Liverpool are probably done in the market

They have one last task which is to offload Divock Origi. That sale could potentially make them go after a new signing. However, as transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano can confirm (h/t Benchwarmers via Express), Liverpool will only sign players if they are available at a bargain deal.

The case can be made that Liverpool don’t really need more signings. The squad looks in decent shape and with so many players returning to the fold, there’s unlikely to be a shortage of options for Jurgen Klopp. Hence, it will not be surprising if Liverpool stay as-is for deadline day.
