According to journalist Duncan Castles in conversation with Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are said to be closely monitoring the situation of Premier League midfielders Declan Rice and Yves Bissouma.
The 25-year-old midfielder is an important part of Graham Potter’s team. He has played an influential part in the early part of the season for the Seagulls.
The Malian international is a dependable asset for Brighton. He has become the perfect key between attack and defence in this midfield setup as Potter’s side currently finds themselves in 5th place on the Premier League table, only 2 points behind leaders Chelsea at this moment.
The midfielder has made 91 PL appearances
for his current club, scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist in that period of time.Castles spoke up on Liverpool’s interest in the Malian midfielder:
“Yves Bissouma is one of the candidates they’ve been looking at for over a year now. Statistically, he comes out extremely well and statistical recruitment is very important to a lot of Premier League clubs, it’s important to Manchester United and to Liverpool.”
West Ham is another team that have enjoyed a fruitful spell under their current manager David Moyes who has elevated the performances of this team. The English international has been an instrumental part of the hammers throughout his time at the club.
The 22-year-old holding midfielder has become key to Moyes’s game plan and provides a lot of stability to their backline. At such a young age Rice has already made 138 League appearances for the West London club and the top PL clubs are already vying to secure his services.
Duncan Castles also mentioned about Liverpool’s interest in the English midfielder:
“You also have Declan Rice, but it’s going to be a multiple of the transfer fee Bissouma would command.
The Merseyside team have had to face a lot of injures to key players in the past season. Key midfielders like Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott are also currently sidelined. Jurgen Klopp is working hard to sustain the fitness of his key players with a hectic schedule on the cards.
Key additions like Declan Rice and Yves Bissouma could not only help bolster the Reds squad but also provide more options for the german manager to rotate his squad.
Both of these players have proved themselves in the PL over a consistent period of time it should be comparatively easier for them to adapt to the dynamic of the club should they make the switch to Anfield. The midfielders would have to fight for their place in the regular first-team but could be seen as great long-term acquisitions for the Reds.
Gini Wijnaldum has departed the club. The likes of James Milner and Jordan Henderson are in their 30s a young dynamic midfielder like Bissouma or Rice could definitely be a breath of fresh air at Anfield in the current circumstances.
