Former Liverpool players Peter Crouch and Joe Cole have backed the Reds for the double

Speaking to BT Sport (h/t Daily Mail Online), Former Liverpools stars Peter Crouch and Joe Cole have both backed the Reds to win the double this season. This was following the club’s impressive 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Winning at the Wanda Metropolitano is no mean task and the Reds now sit pretty at the top of the so-called ‘Group of Death’. With nine points in three matches, they have a comfortable five-point lead over the second place.

Following the match, Crouch analysed his former club’s weaknesses and gave his thoughts on the matter. He added that while the Reds arent is flawless, they are still the favourites to win both the Premier League and Champions League.

Peter Crouch has concerns about the Liverpool high line.

Crouch’s bone of contention appears to be the high line that the Reds defence has been operating. He believes it gives opposition attackers the opportunity to get behind the Liverpool rearguard.

“I felt like the high line was too high. I felt there was times Griezmann ran in behind from his own half. But I still feel they’re the best team, I think they are favourites to win the Champions League and favourites to win the Premier League.”

Cole agreed withCrounch’s sentiment and added that English teams are strong this season. He suggested that only an injury plague, like last season, can bring down the Merseyside club’s chances of glory.

“The only thing I can think of will hold them back is they got injuries like last year.’

Words like these represent what Jurgen Klopp’s side are at the moment. However, they also add to the expectation and pressure during a season. But, this is something a top club would normally face as they are expected to compete on all fronts.
