Transfer News: Newcastle enter the race to sign Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr

According to the Daily Mail (h/t Liverpool Echo), Newcastle United have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Watford star Ismaila Sarr

The Senegalese international has settled in well in England following his move from Rennes to Vicarage Road in 2019. Last season, he scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists in 40 games for the Hornets helping them secure promotion to the Premier League.

This season he already has four goals and continues to showcase his steady development. While the Hornets may be struggling, Sarr stands out as one of their brightest stars.

Newcastle are now eyeing Ismaila Sarr amid Liverpool interest.

Liverpool have had their eye on the player for a pretty long time now. While it is debatable if he will be an automatic starter, Sarr ads mush needed strength in depth on the wings.

The Reds already have one of the best right-wingers in the form of Mohamed Salah, who seems unstoppable at this moment. But the young prospect Harvey Elliott recently got injured and pushed Klopp to look for options to strengthen his options.

Newcastle now has entered a new era with new Saudi ownership. With money available, they could go all out in the transfer windows to come. With Jacob Murphy struggling on the wings, Sarr would provide the Magpies with an immediate upgrade.

Watford however are not keen on letting their star man go and believe he can replicate the performances of Jack Grealish. High praise indeed given the Englishman’s ability.

Sarr’s current contract at Watford runs for another three years ending in 2024. Given the key role he plays for the club, it remains to be seen what it will take for Watford to part with him.
