It is believed that Manchester United, Barcelona, Ajax, and Atletico Madrid are seemingly interested in securing the services of the young midfielder. He has only 18 months left on his current contract with Man City. The Reds have been creating a great mix of players by bringing in some young talent into the club.

Jurgen Klopp hasn’t been shy of giving deserving youngsters a chance of proving themselves on the big stage. Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are some shining examples of the aforementioned statement. Liverpool could benefit from another mercurial attacking midfielder given their intense style of playing.

An eye on the future?

James could be a great long-term addition to the Reds. The youngster’s experience in England could help him adapt better to the Merseyside club. With an ageing midfield that consists of the likes of James Milner, Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson, the 2019 UEFA Champions League winners could use some reinforcement in the middle of the pitch.

The Merseysiders had to face grave injury issues last season which hampered their chances of getting any silverware. The only substantial addition to the Reds this season was Ibrahima Konate in the last transfer window. This could push them to make a greater dent in the near future.
