29-year-old Liverpool superstar on Xavi’s transfer radar

Transfer News: Barcelona manager Xavi determined to bring Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to Camp Nou

According to El Nacional via Sports Mole (h/t Liverpool Echo), Barcelona manager Xavi is set on acquiring Liverpool star Mohamed Salah next summer.

The Spaniard has his sights set on bringing an established attacker to the Catalan giant next summer. It is believed that the 41-year-old manager is keen on bringing the Egyptian to Camp Nou next summer.

Salah just has a little over 18 months left on his current contract with the Merseyside club. The 29-year-old made the switch from AS Roma to Liverpool in 2017 for £34.3m which could be considered as astute business considering the returns he has given since then. The attacker has only grown in stature since then becoming an integral part of this Liverpool squad.

Barcelona manager Xavi is determined to get Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian forward has churned out crazy numbers ever since joining the Reds. He has already amassed 140 goals and provided 53 assists in 218 matches across all competitions for the Merseysiders.

Mohamed Salah is one of the most consistent performers for the club and it is believed that the former AS Roma player is holding out for a weekly wage between £300,000 to £380,000 at Anfield. This would be a significant boost from his current £200,000

a week.

What next for Mo?

When fellow Premier league rivals were trying their best to bring new players to the club, Liverpool handed out new long term deals to key players like Jordan Henerson, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Barcelona are currently in the midst of a financial crisis. The Cules have recently appointed club legend Xavi as the manager to steer the ship after dismissing former coach Ronald Koeman.

The Reds would be looking to keep their star player at Anfield in the near future. He has played a pivotal role in helping them win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup as well as the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah has also gone on to highlight the fact that he would love to stay with Liverpool till the end of his career during an interview with Sky Sports in late October but he says it ‘depends on the club’.

It would therefore take something really special to lure the Egyptain out of Anfiled. That being said the Merseysiders should tie him down with a new contract as soon as possible if they are to ward off any potential suitors like Barcelona in the future.
