According to Jeunes Footeux (h/t Liverpoolecho), Arsenal are interested in signing Liverpool target Jonathan David from Lille.
The youngster has put his name on the top spot of the Ligue 1 highest scoring chart ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Wissam Ben Yedder. The Canadian international has bagged 13 goals in 37 French League appearances. Naturally, his performances have not gone unnoticed.
David has become a key performer for the defending French champions in recent years. Furthermore, the American born ace even helped Les Dogues win the coveted French League trophy last season ahead of Paris Saint Germain.
Lille are aware of the interest in their youngster and the French team are looking to generate a hefty sum from his departure. They have valued their prospect €50million.
Liverpool have been linked with David in recent times. But the road to land the youngster wouldn’t be easy for the Reds as they are set to face competition from Premier League rival Arsenal.
Liverpool’s current goalscorer are in fine form. Salah has been top-notch, and Mane has provided a helping hand in Liverpool’s goal tally. Diego Jota has been fine form in the absence of Firmino. The Brazilian has been quiet due to injury, but his return to the field could bring more goals and assists.
Jurgen Klopps’ team has scored the most number of goals in the English top-flight this season. The present looks bright for Kopites. However, the future could be less colourful unless decisive action is taken.
Jurgen Klopp promoted youth players like Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones. But, other than that, there are few fresh legs in the squad.
David has proved his goalscoring abilities in the French League. He could have an immediate impact at Liverpool. Adding a greater depth to the squad for the present team, the Canadian could turn into a future star under the supervision of Klopp.
