Transfer News: Liverpool keeping a keen eye on 27-year-old Primeira Liga winger

Liverpool are interested in signing Braga winger Ricardo Horta

According to Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool appear keen to secure the signing of SC Braga winger Ricardo Horta.

The Braga skipper has caught the eyes of both Liverpool and Arsenal, and the English clubs are said to be ‘best positioned‘ to sign the player. While both sides have done well this season, the January transfer window offers them the possibility to further supplement their squad as required.

With the Portuguese star’s contract expiring only in 2026, Liverpool may need to fork out upwards of €20million

to sign him. Given the financial might of the Premier League, the asking price is not as drastic as some other players might command.
Liverpool are interested in signing Braga winger Ricardo Horta.

Horta has put up impressive numbers this season in Portugal, scoring nine goals in just 14 league appearances. The midfielder has also shown great versatility, playing both as a winger and in the middle of the pitch, although it is clear that he is most dangerous coming in off the left.

Liverpool possesses one of the best forward lines in world football and can rip the best teams to shreds on their day. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side can do with more depth as they look to compete along multiple fronts.

Braga captain Horta could head to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Arsenal interested in signing the star.

The presence of a player like Horta in the squad will be a welcome addition. The 27-year-old will not just provide competition to star forwards Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane as well as acting as cover for these stars.

Question marks may arise regarding the Portuguese star’s adaptability to the Premier League. But the winger’s style of play and impressive goalscoring stats with Braga can give naysayers an idea of what is to come.

With tSalah and Mane leading the goalscoring responsibilities for Liverpool for the past few seasons, Klopp could hope that signing Horta could ease their burden and drive the team to further glory with his performances.

The Reds will also be concerned about their form of late, not having won in their last four fixtures. Signing a proven goalscorer like Horta could possibly be the impetus they needed to push forward in their quest for this season’s league title.
