Leeds United make final transfer decision on Liverpool target Raphinha
According to the Mirror, Leeds United have ruled out selling winger Raphinha in January, who has long been a target for Liverpool as well as Manchester City.
Leeds now plan to hold a second round of contract talks with the Brazilian, with the club’s director of football Victor Orta encouraged after holding positive meetings with Raphinha’s agent in December.
The club have no intention of letting their star winger depart Elland Road, feeling that his long-term future remains with them. Raphina only moved to Leeds from Rennes in October 2020.
The 25-year-old has been Leeds’ sole bright spark in what has been a difficult season for the club. He has scored eight goals and putting in dazzling performances week in and week out for the Yorkshire outfit. He has only continued where he left off last season, where he managed six goals and nine assists in the Premier League.
Raphinha has certainly caught the attention of some big sides, with Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City tracking the Brazilian’s performances, but Leeds have not received any official approaches as of yet.
The winger is also said to be comfortable with his new life at Leeds United, settling in Yorkshire and has plans to marry his partner, who has also joined him in England.
The Brazilian has certainly set the Premier League alight since his move to Elland Road, and terrorised defences with his mazy dribbles and pace. It could well be time for a move to a bigger club to truly realise his potential, playing in the world’s best competitions and training with the world’s best players.
Liverpool offer Raphinha one such chance. With our club’s star forwards all turning 30 this year and their contracts running down, the Brazilian could slot right into our attack and form a devestating partnership with Diogo Jota, who has been sensational since his move to Anfield.

Although Leeds are relaxed about their star winger’s contract situation as the club have tied him down to 2025, they could see a number of high profile clubs make an offer for Raphinha in the summer.
For the right price, Leeds may consider letting the Brazilian leave, and Liverpool will certainly have their eyes peeled for any transfer activity regarding Raphinha.
