Liverpool plan to make Dutch attacker with €75m release clause their sole January signing

Liverpool considering transfer bid for Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma as release clause revealed

According to the Mirror, Liverpool could be weighing up a move for 24-year-old Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma as their sole signing during the January transfer window.

It has been claimed by The Athletic (Subscription Required) that Danjuma’s contract boasts of a €75m release clause, which could deter Liverpool from making a move for the star considering their lack of big-money signings recently.

The Reds have not had an active transfer window for quite some time now, and although Klopp has not hinted at any potential new signings, Danjuma’s name seems to have been floated around in recent weeks since the January transfer window opened.

Liverpool are considering a transfer bid for Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma in January.

There have been plenty of calls for Liverpool to sign a forward as cover for African stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who are currently with their national sides at the Africa Cup of Nations, and Danjuma’s name is one that we can consider.

Danjuma to LFC?

The former Bournemouth man has been in fine form for Villarreal, scoring nine goals in 18 appearances so far for the Spanish side since joining them last year. His impressive numbers for the Yellow Submarines show that he knows where the net is, and that he can possibly replace one of our ageing wingers in the long run.

With our attacking trident Salah, Mane, and Roberto Firmino’s contracts expiring in 2023 and all turning 30 this year, Liverpool would be wise to start looking for long-term replacements already. Diogo Jota can arguably replace one of them in the long run, and Danjuma can do something similar.

The Nigerian-born winger, if signed by Liverpool, can replace one of Salah, Mane, or Firmino, but we all know that it is easier said than done, despite Danjuma’s talent.

If we do manage to get the ex-Championship talent, it would certainly be an uphill task for the forward to directly step into the legendary front three’s shoes. But if we can sign him early and ease him into their role while the trio sticks around, he could potentially be a star for us in the near future.

The one deterrent in this transfer dream could be Danjuma’s price tag. The Dutch international does not come cheap and Liverpool would perhaps be right to feel like they are paying a lot for a player who joined for £21.3million

just last summer.

Nevertheless, fans would feel like they are due a big-name signing up front. Danjuma may not be in the same bracket as the likes of Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, but we all know what Klopp can do with young, talented attackers.
