Injury Update: Liverpool star to miss FA Cup clash against Norwich

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been ruled out of the FA Cup clash against Norwich

According to the Athletic, Liverpool playmaker, Thiago Alcantara had to miss the crucial cup tie against Chelsea due to tightness in his hamstring during warmup. It is believed that the Spanish international will undergo a scan to assess the extent of the problem.

Alcantara was in tears on the bench as Brazilian international Alisson Becker was trying to console the former Bayern Munich player. Those tears did eventually run to a smile at the end of the night as the Red lifted their first trophy of the season with Caoimhin Kelleher

being the star of the show.

The 30-year-old has had a tough time trying to maintain his fitness ever since arriving at Anfield. The Spanish professional footballer has to suffer from calf and hip problems and a spell of covid which have largely reduced his involvement in the first-team.

Just when things seemed to be getting better, worrisome signs have begun to crop up again. Thiago Alcantara when fully fit has shown his abilities time and again on the big stage. He has played at the elite level with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich on some very famous nights.

Naby Keita had to be introduced in the starting lineup in the absence of the Spanish midfielder and Harvey Elliot who wasn’t initially in the squad was promoted to the bench in a sort of domino effect.

The 18-year-old had a pretty productive final himself after getting a yellow card during the match for a flare-up in a tackle between Kai Havertz

and Trent Alexander Arnold. The former Fulham player also slotted home a crucial penalty which helped Liverpool stay in the tie.

The Reds have an FA Cup fixture against Norwich on 3rd March and take on West Ham United on 5th March in the Premier League. The Hammers are the only team to have beaten the Reds in the Premier League this season and the Merseysiders will have to be wary of their threat.

Thiago is set to miss the game against the Canaries. With the season entering its final stages, the Reds will hope that the Spanish maestro returns to action sooner rather than later.

Thiago’s tears due to the sudden injury scare go to show how much it means for him to be a part of the first-team setup at Liverpool. Whilst there is still no confirmation as to the extent of the injury, the fans would be hoping that the Spaniard can return to first-team action sooner rather than later.
