Jurgen Klopp sheds light on his future at Liverpool beyond 2024
In his pre-match presser for the West Ham United fixture (h/t Liverpool Echo), Jurgen Klopp spoke about his long-term plans with Liverpool.
The German boss has revolutionised the club ever since he took over the Anfield outfit in a managerial capacity. The former Borussia Dortmund manager took over a club that was struggling for consistency and made them one of the elite competitors across Europe.
The 54-year-old manager has guided the club to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup as well as FIFA Club World. He also ended our wait for a Premier League title in the 2019-20 season after a span of nearly three decades which seemed like an eternity to all the club faithful.
The Reds have also started this season in fine fashion and have already lifted the EFL Cup after beating arch-rivals, Chelsea. Klopp has been at the backbone of this revolution and has truly turned us from doubters to believers. His current contract with the club runs until the 2023-24 season and the German has always been cryptic while addressing any talks about his future post that period.
In his pre-match conference (h/t Liverpool Echo), the 54-year-old steered clear from making any concrete comments while addressing his future. He did however state that he would wish for the club to be in an even better place if he were to step down.
“The plan is still the same. Nothing has changed and if I decide to in 24 (either way) it’ll be nothing to do with the quality of the squad. All we do is for the long term. This club must be even better when I am not here anymore. That’s the plan.”
Should Liverpool start leaning for a future without Klopp?
The Reds have not just won a plethora of titles but have put in some amazing displays under Klopp over the years. The attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane have instilled a different kind of fear in opposing defenders over the years.
The German manager should be heavily credited for this feat. His philosophy of ‘Gegenpressing’ and fluid football has not only helped the club win a plethora of titles but also produce performances that are captivating and easy on the eyes.
The former FSV Mainz 05 boss has also given deserving youngsters their fair share of opportunities to impress in the first-team setup. The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot among others have hugely benefited from this.
The German boss did a beautiful job of shoring up the defence at Anfield and has created a superb mentality within the players in the dressing room. That being said, all good things must come to an end, and sooner or later the club may have to prepare for life without Klopp.

Whether or not the boss stays with the club past his current deal, the fans should have no regrets in regards to the amount of effort and dedication he has put into building this Liverpool squad.
That being said, both the players as well as Klopp would like to focus on their upcoming fixtures rather than getting sucked into the vortex of what the future might or might not hold. The Reds would thus be looking to get the three points against the Hammers and put more pressure on the Citizens.
