Man United boss Ralf Rangnick claims a share of credit for Liverpool success
Speaking before Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United in the Premier League as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick believes that he has had a part to play in Liverpool’s success.
The German tactician has claimed that a lot of players who are stars now at Liverpool have worked with him in the past when not many people knew about their talents then. The German was actively involved with the Red Bull family of clubs, paving the way for many young stars to succeed.
The interim Manchester United manager has been renowned for developing youngsters to high levels and managing to extract the best out of them. Although not always a manager, the German has been involved in building several successful careers.
Speaking ahead of the clash against the Carabao Cup winners, Rangnick has praised his Liverpool counterpart’s team for the football they play. However, he seemed to hint that he was partly responsible for Red’s success.
“Six or seven of those players used to be my players, we signed them for our clubs when nobody knew them. this is probably the club with the highest number of players from our former clubs because their approach, their style of football.”
Who are these players?
Rangnick is known to develop unknown players into world-class talents and some of the Liverpool stars certainly belong to the list. Sadio Mane, Naby Keita, Takumi Minamino, Ibrahima Konate, Roberto Firmino and Joel Matip are some of the names that come to mind when we think of Liverpool players developed by the German tactician.
While Rangnick does deserve a share of his credit for discovering these players, it is Jurgen Klopp who helped them realise their potential. To say that Rangnick has had a pivotal hand to play in Liverpool’s success is an overstatement.
Although his time as an interim manager at Man United has been mixed at its best, the German tactician will know that the clash against his counterpart’s team will be an important game.
