South coast PL club informed of £15m price tag for signing Liverpool loanee

Liverpool inform Bournemouth of Nat Phillips price tag ahead of the summer transfer window

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool would be demanding around £15million from Bournemouth if they want to permanently sign Nat Phillips this summer.

The Englishman has been a big part of Scott Parker’s side at the Vitality Stadium ever since his temporary move to the south coast. Phillips showed his talent last season for the Reds when an injury crisis meant a dearth of senior centre-backs.

While Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Ibrahima Konate have taken over the starting positions now, Phillips’ contribution in helping Liverpool finish third last campaign has certainly been noticed.

The Reds have already been paid £1.5million

in loan fees and a further £250,000 due to a clause in Phillips’ contract which activated once the Cherries sealed promotion to the Premier League alongside Fulham.

Nat’s the way

They are in no rush to sell and the player is expected to begin pre-season with LFC, with the club also expecting more interest in the player. So, does Phillips have a future at Anfield?

Barring another injury crisis at the back, it is hard to see him get a lot of game time here. Nat Phillips did feature against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League group stages but the Reds had already qualified as group winners before kick-off.

Bournemouth want to retain Liverpool defender, Nathaniel Phillips.

It now remains to be seen if the Cherries think that Phillips is worth the price LFC are quoting for him. He is an experienced centre-back at this stage, and at 25, is in the prime years of his career.

Bournemouth need hard-working and committed players with a never-say-die attitude if they want to stay in the PL beyond next season. Phillips, during his short spell as a Liverpool starter, showed he can hack it amongst the big boys.

For the player, it serves as a chance to become an important first-team player at a Premier League club. Gareth Southgate’s English centre-backs may be big names across Europe but as we have seen in the past, players- especially in the PL- can get senior caps if they play well for a few months.
