According to Brazilian outlet Netflu (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are the latest club to join the race for 20-year-old Fluminense starlet, Andre Trindade.
Barcelona, Ajax, and Udinese are other names linked with a move for the Fluminense midfielder. Liverpool have apparently sent scouts to monitor the player’s progress, but there aren’t any talks of an offer just yet.
Trindade can play as a defensive midfielder as well as a central midfielder. He can, hence, act as an understudy for Fabinho Tavares, or even the ageing Thiago Alacantara and Jordan Henderson.
According to WhoScored.com, Andre is good at passing and likes to dribble. Liverpool fans would certainly know more about the young talent and his pedigree if they get to see him play for us in the near future.
But this seems like early days in this pursuit. If the Reds sent scouts, then surely there is an interest in the young midfielder. He has made 22 appearances for Fluminense in all competitions this season, scoring once and providing one assist during that time.
Liverpool already have two budding English central midfielders in their squad and are about to add a playmaker this summer in Fabio Carvalho. Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott have made big strides under Jurgen Klopp and both started in the 2-1 away win against Southampton recently.
It remains to be seen if Klopp would have a plan for the young Brazilian if he were to join the Anfield outfit. We currently have three senior Brazilians in our squad, including Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and Alisson Becker.
Marcelo Pitaluga, who was signed from Fluminense’s youth team, currently plays for our U23 squad. It remains to be seen if this move materialises but with other clubs also in the fray- ones that can offer him more playing time as compared to us- it won’t be the easiest task in the world to convince Andre to join us.
