Romano: 27-year-old Liverpool star waiting to complete medical with potential new club

Transfer News: Divock Origi awaiting AC Milan medical and contract signing ahead of Liverpool exit, says Fabrizio Romano

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, there is no doubt where Divock Origi will end up this summer, with the Liverpool striker awaiting a medical at AC Milan in the future.

The 27-year-old star was signed from Lille after a solid FIFA World Cup campaign with Belgium in 2014 but has never really looked like he could lead our line on a consistent basis. He, however, has written himself into LFC folklore in the past few years or so.

Despite being a super-sub, Origi has scored some of the most important goals in our club’s recent history. With Mohamed Salah out and the Reds needing four goals to overturn a three-goal deficit against Barcelona in the 2019 UEFA Champions League semi-final, it was Origi who popped up with a brace.

Divock Origi is already an icon for Liverpool.

He then scored the second to seal our sixth UCL trophy in the final against Tottenham Hotspur that year. Apart from these two games, his influence from the bench has continued to be a big threat for us against opposition defences.

Origi off to Milan?

But it now seems like the Belgian, who spent some time out on loan at Wolfsburg in the past, is set to join seven-time European Cup/UCL winners in AC Milan. Romano claims Origi is set for a medical in the future with a contract signing to follow with the Rossoneri.

He also claims that the Reds have accepted the striker’s decision and have come to terms with it. Despite scoring some big goals, Origi never really became a starter for us on a consistent basis and can perhaps revive his career in Italy.

A striker that, more often than not, seemed to possess the magic touch for us in big games, Origi has served the club with distinction. Despite a slow start to life in the Premier League, he would now leave Anfield as a cult hero and an icon- if he does seal a summer exit.

There are still two games to go this season. The Reds take on Wolves in the Premier League before a UCL final against Real Madrid. Who knows, we may see an Origi special yet again, with a historic quadruple on the line for us.
