Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard warns Sadio Mane amid Bayern Munich interest

While speaking in the UCL match presentation of BT Sport as quoted by Daily Mail, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Sadio Mane might be making a mistake leaving the club in the summer transfer window.

The Senegalese is currently entering the final year of his contract with Liverpool and hasn’t shown any intentions of signing a renewal with the club. In recent weeks, the 30-year-old has attracted a lot of speculation regarding his future. and looks set to move on in the summer.

Amid such a situation, Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with Mane. It is believed that the Bavarian giants are readying an offer in excess of £35 million

to convince the AFCON champion to make the switch to the Allianz Arena.

The African superstar revealed in the post-match press conference ahead of the Champions League tie that he is going to communicate his final decision regarding his future right after the Champions League final.

While speaking in a BT Sports presentation, former Liverpool captain and Premier League legend Steven Gerrard believes it might not be the best idea for Mane to leave Liverpool. The Aston Villa manager has reflected difficulty in understanding why the Senegalese international would take such a decision.

“[Mohamed] Salah has already said that he is going to be here next year, I know there is a bit of noise around Mane. But why would you want to leave this Liverpool team because you know that they are going to be competitive in the business end of the season?”

It’s time to bid farewell to Mane?

Sadio Mane has been one of the top forwards in the Premier League for the last few campaigns. Apart from maintaining a scintillating consistency, the 30-year-old has also scored crucial goals in big tournaments including the 2018 Champions League final.

Sadio Mane celebrates a goal for Liverpool.

Liverpool have a strong team with a lot of experienced players. They won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup together but fell short in securing the Premier League and Champions League trophies by small margins. The key members of Jurgen Klopp’s squad can do enough to sustain their level of performance in the coming few years.

Mane has been one of Jurgen Klopp’s keystone players in his Liverpool project and has more than repaid the faith put in him by the Anfield faithful. Having won it all on Merseyside, he might now be seeking a new challenge elsewhere.

Given his contributions to our cause, it would only be fair for us to permit the player to chase his dreams.
