According to the German media source BILD (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bayern Munich are currently preparing a third bid to sign Liverpool star Sadio Mane on a potential transfer this summer. He is expected to leave Anfield in search of a fresh challenge ahead of the next season.
Mane has a preference to join Bayern Munchen in this summer transfer window. They are also interested in signing him and have made two offers for him previously. However, the Reds rejected both of those proposals as they remain firm on their valuation of £42.5million.
It is claimed that Bayern will set their focus on finalising a move for the Senegalese international this week. They are setting up a £30.3million bid up front with another £4.3million in bonuses, which will be met if certain objectives are met in the future.
If this information is believed to be true, then we must firmly turn down this third proposal as it is quite baffling that the German side have made this offer anyway. After all, Bayern’s last bid amounted to £30million, which shows how ridiculous this new attempt is from their side.
It is stated that the Bundesliga heavyweights have no intention to meet our asking price, with other options being on their shortlist for Mane. In such a case, an agreement must be reached that suits both parties in the current situation.
But this latest offer does not fall anywhere near that point, as it is quite close to the second proposal the Bavarians
have made for the 30-year-old. Mane is in line to enter the final year of his current contract, but his qualities are enough to warrant a higher fee than what Bayern has in mind as of now. With 23 goals and five assists to his name from 51 matches across all competitions, the African superstar was on the back of one of his best-ever campaigns last season. That is further highlighted by his success for the national team as well, although his contract situation does call for the need to reduce our price to an extent.
We should at least hold out for a sum around the £35million mark, although it will be interesting to see what the Merseyside board decide regarding this matter. Extending this saga for too long would not help us in any way so let’s hope to see a solution to this situation as soon as possible.
