Serie A giants eye potential swap deal involving Liverpool’s Brazilian ace

Juventus eye Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino in Adrien Rabiot swap deal

According to CWM (h/t Liverpool Echo), Juventus could look at swapping Adrien Rabiot with Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino. The Serie A giants could ask for the Brazilian for the French midfielder instead of Naby Keita.

According to Calciomercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), the Merseyside club were looking to exchange the Guinean with Rabiot. But it seems the Bianconeri could instead ask for Firmino.

With Paulo Dybala having left the Old Lady, the Serie A giants are searching for a forward. Even though the Reds’ centre-forward has only one year left on his contract, the Anfield side have no intention of letting the 30-year-old leave.

A Firmino Rabiot swap wouldn’t make sense for Liverpool

The midfield is a position with which Liverpool don’t need to tweak much this summer unless a world-class player is signed. Rabiot is a decent player, but fans would rather put their trust in the likes of Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.

Our 27-year-old Guinean finally adapted to life in the Premier League last season, playing the most minutes in a season since his arrival to Merseyside in 2018. So a possible swap between him and the French midfielder shouldn’t be considered.

To adapt to the team, new players require minutes. It still isn’t a guarantee that a player will be able to adapt to the Premier League even after ample game time.

Liverpool fans would argue we have a capable midfielder in our ranks in 21-year-old Jones. The Reds fans would rather see a homegrown player getting minutes and developing themselves.

Coming to Firmino, the Brazilian is someone with the ability to change the game with his ability on the ball. We’ve already lost Sadio Mane this summer. With a long season ahead, the Reds cannot afford to lose another seasoned match-winner.

Financially, the swap between our Brazilian forward and Rabiot doesn’t make sense either since Firmino is valued higher. It remains to be seen what happens with the 30-year-old’s contract situation, but for now, he’s still our player.
