LFC Transfer News: Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies attracts interest from Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers

(h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool defender Ben Davies is attracting interest from Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City.

The English defender was signed in the winter of 2021 as the Reds suffered from a grave injury crisis at the back. But as it turned out, Jurgen Klopp never once used the defender for the senior team.

The trend also continued next season, and Davies had to go out on loan to Sheffield United to get some playing time. It now seems that the defender could leave Anfield permanently for good.

He has garnered interest from the Rovers as well as the Potters- both aiming to secure promotion this season. Blackburn finished eighth last season while Stoke were 14th by the end of gameweek 46.

Davies is now 26. He left Preston North End and would have hoped to at least get a few games under his belt at Liverpool, but that has not been the case.

The Reds signed him for just £1.6million. Hopefully, they can rake in a good amount if he is sold, which would then make this flop transfer move a success- at least on the financial front.

He has also not made the cut to be with Liverpool’s team for their pre-season tour, which serves as an indication that he could switch clubs. He currently has three years left on his deal.

The Reds would not see any impact on their first-team set-up if Davies leaves, and this is a move that they would be wise to sanction granted a good offer comes in.

Hopefully, he finds success elsewhere. The Reds, meanwhile, learned their lesson from the injury troubles that year and got in Ibrahima Konate last summer. What a signing that has been!
