Liverpool defender Neco Williams set for Nottingham Forest medical today after fee agreed
According to Neil Jones of Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo), Neco Williams is set to undergo his Nottingham Forest medical on Sunday to seal a transfer move from Liverpool. The right-back spent the second half of last season on loan at Fulham.
The Reds are set to lose the 21-year-old after a deal worth £17million was agreed upon between the two parties. That comes after the club has already signed Calvin Ramsay this summer from Aberdeen.
Getting to the point of a medical being done is as good as a transfer being completed- barring any last-minute hiccups. The Reds, hence, can now start planning for life without Neco.
Or perhaps they already did. In Ramsay, they have a teenage Scottish full-back who would understand that he cannot get ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold in the short run.
Neco Williams set for Forest move
Perhaps sometime in the future- but right now, TAA is one of the best in the world in his position. Moreover, the Scotsman would know that he will get his chance.
Last season, the Reds played all possible games during the course of the season. It is next to impossible for one player to be selected to start in all four competitions, every single time.
Even the great Virgil van Dijk and reliable Alisson Becker were given rest here and there during the last campaign. Given the number of years Trent covers up and down the field down the right-hand side, his playing time has to be managed.
For Neco, it never really seemed like he had a future in our first team. He would now have the chance to showcase the talent he has and make himself a regular in a team that will look to survive in the PL next season.
