Sadio Mane reveals one reason why he left Liverpool for Bayern Munich

Talking to FCBayern.tv (h/t Liverpool Echo), Sadio Mane explained one of the reasons why he left Liverpool this summer in order to complete a switch to Bayern Munich.

The Senegalese star explained that it was the welcoming nature of the people in the city that made him consider a move. Being accepted and loved by the fans is always a bonus and in Mane’s case, that feeling exists even before he has kicked a ball for them.

“When I lived in Salzburg, I used to come to Munich regularly. The people are very respectful and nice. This really impressed me and is important for me. The people have welcomed me, especially here in the club, which has given me extra motivation.”

This surely does not come as shade towards the Reds. Everyone knows just how much our fans loved Mane, even if some of us tended to shine a brighter spotlight on Mohamed Salah at times.

New challenge for Sadio Mane ahead

Mane, of course, played for RB Salzburg before he came to England. During his time at the Austrian Bundesliga club, he lived in a city that was close to Munich.

He would have had an idea about the culture of the place and the move wouldn’t have been one where he was throwing himself into entirely new surroundings. Now having trained for the first time with his teammates, he would be more comfortable with his new team.

LFC could be £35.1million richer from Mane’s sale if all add-ons are met, but the void he has left in the heart of the fans is one that will take time to fill. He was adopted as one of our own and barely any Liverpool fan expected him to leave in such a manner.

More Liverpool New:

Most of us perhaps took his stay here for granted. Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz are two players that have arrived from Primeira Liga and could be the replacement for the Senegalese superstar- but those are big boots to fill.
