“100 percent”- Liverpool star provides positive update on his injury ahead of Man United clash

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota provides an update on his hamstring injury

While speaking in an interview as quoted by the Liverpool official site, Diogo Jota provided an update on his injury and revealed whether he would be a part of the squad facing Manchester United in the pre-season friendly.

In Portugal’s 1-0 loss to Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League, Liverpool forward Diogo Jota sustained an injury. The 25-year-old played the entire game after being brought on as a substitute in the 62nd minute, but it was later discovered that he had injured his hamstring.

The Portuguese striker revealed that even though it was unfortunate to sustain the injury first-hand, he has made a complete recovery from his injury during the summer break.

“Yeah, a hamstring injury [in] the last game with Portugal – very unlucky! But it happened and I just had the summer to recover well and start the pre-season at 100 per cent.

The 25-year-old also suggested that he might not be involved in the game against Manchester United as it could be too soon to start playing in competitive matches, but he hopes to make him come back very soon.

“Probably too soon. As well, because I was with the national team I just came back yesterday as well, so I still need to do the last steps to be 100 per cent with the team so probably that is too soon. But I will be ready very, very soon.”

Last season, the attacker was in outstanding form for the Reds, cementing his place as a starter in Jurgen Klopp’s squad. The Portuguese international ended the campaign on a high with 21 goals and eight assists in 55 appearances

across all competitions.

Jota has often demonstrated his ability to score a lot of goals. He is still quite young—25 years old—and has plenty of time to grow. In most areas of his game, he already appears to be well-honed, and playing more frequently under Jurgen Klopp would only further his development.

The fact that the Portuguese striker has recovered from his injury will be welcomed news for Klopp because he has already demonstrated his value as a player for both club and country.

More Liverpool New:

Last season, Liverpool was unable to complete the quadruple. Jota would be expected to play a prominent role for the Reds next season provided Klopp and the team maintain the same goal, and his fitness would be extremely important given the rigorous schedule.
