(Subscription Required), Caoimhin Kelleher and Kaide Gordon are sitting out from Liverpool’s pre-season tour due to an injury.

A decision has been taken to keep them back in the UK for them to continue their rehabilitation process. It comes as a blow for the duo because they belong to the group of players who’d want to impress Jurgen Klopp to get more playing time.

Gordon is just on the verge of increased first-team action while Kelleher continues to be back-up for Alisson Becker. Exit-linked English centre-back Ben Davies is another name missing from Liverpool’s squad in Thailand.

He is expected to seal a move away from Anfield. Gordon would be hoping he gets some minutes here and there for the Reds in the upcoming campaign.

Speedy recovery

Liverpool have lost Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi this summer, two of the players who were trusted to take the field when our first-team forwards needed rest or rotation.

Now, a couple of spots have opened up on our bench. Alisson, meanwhile, is the club’s undisputed choice between the sticks.

Kelleher did get action last season in the cup games but is far away from challenging for the Brazilian’s spot in the team. Nevertheless, the Irish shot-stopper can boast about being the club’s starting goalkeeper in an EFL Cup final.

His injury has been described as a ‘knock’ and it doesn’t seem serious by that description. We would need him back as soon as possible but Adrian San Miguel still would act as a safety net in a worst-case scenario.
