According to Daily Mail, Liverpool are in talks with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of wantaway defender Ben Davies
.The Reds shockingly signed the Englishman in January amidst an injury-plagued 2020–21 campaign. At the start of 2021, Jurgen Klopp found himself in a pickle due to the departure of his renowned centre-back trio, which included Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez.
In order to reduce their losses, Liverpool was compelled to enter the January transfer market and sign Ozan Kabak (on loan) and Ben Davies. While the former has made first-team outings, the latter has yet to play a single minute for Jurgen Klopp’s senior team.
With Ibrahima Konate’s arrival last summer, Klopp essentially has four centre-back options for the 2021–2022 season and beyond. Davies is presently in a perilous situation because first-team action is not imminent.
He was left off the Liverpool team that took the plane to Asia for their pre-season matches, which might have been a sign of things to come. The 26-year-old has plenty of time left in the summer transfer window and is catching the eye of division two team Blackburn Rovers.
Now it is believed that Liverpool are continuing talks with the Championship team for the potential departure of the Englishman.
The 26-year-old is skilful at getting the ball out from the back but lacks the aerial ability required to engage in off-the-ground confrontations. Even if he might not have featured for Liverpool, the chance to practise with Klopp will have aided in his growth as a player.
It makes sense for Liverpool and Davies to move on from what could be viewed as a failed experiment. Davies will have the chance to restart his career, and the Reds might make a tidy profit if they decide to sell him. The transfer committee at Liverpool will yet again make another successful business.
