Juventus set to offer Liverpool transfer target Adrien Rabiot to Lyon
As reported by CMW (h/t Liverpool Echo), Serie A giants Juventus are seeking to include Liverpool transfer target Adrien Rabiot in a potential swap deal with Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyonnais.
Juve are planning a cash plus player deal for Brazilian attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta who is already in the radar of several top European clubs. Rabiot, for all his ability, has fallen short of expectations at the Allianz Stadium.
With Juventus wanting to offload Rabiot and their new signing Paul Pogba already injured, this transfer window has been a tricky one for the Italian club.
The Bianconeri are planning a deal worth £15m-£17m plus Rabiot to secure the services of Paqueta. However, this can prove to be a hindrance to Liverpool’s transfer strategy as the Frenchman was a target for The Reds.
The French midfielder, who mainly operates from Central midfield and can tend to play wide on the left occasionally. He had a good season, starting 28 of 38 games for Juventus in the league, having a pass percentage of 83.3%.
Liverpool were said to be in talks with The Old Lady for the services of Rabiot, for a deal worth £15m. It would represent a decent price for a player who is in the prime of his career.
The former PSG midfielder, who was also rumoured to join his old manager at Paris, Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, is reportedly only looking to move to a Premier League club with Champions League football on offer.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, gaffer Jurgen Klopp can look to alternatives such as Nicolo Barella and Matheus Nunes if interest in Rabiot goes nowhere. The former two could also represent better value given their diverse skill set in comparison to the Frenchman.
