Report: Liverpool academy duo attracting interest in the loan market

Liverpool starlets Jake Cain and Max Woltman subjected to loan interest

According to a report in Liverpool Echo, Liverpool U-21 duo Jake Cain and Max Woltman are subject to interest from clubs for a potential loan move during this summer transfer window.

Cain captained the youth side that lost 3-0 to Manchester City last weekend. He spent the last season on loan to Newport County, making 29 appearances

in all competitions mostly at the reserves level, providing two assists and playing in multiple positions across the midfield.

Woltman, on the other hand, made 35 appearances in all competitions last season, two of them coming for the Liverpool first-team. He came on as a late substitute in the Reds’ 2-1 win against AC Milan at San Siro in the Champions League group stage.

The quality, prospects and the potential of these two youngsters are very high. There is a reason why they have been in the Liverpool youth sides. So, whichever clubs are looking to sign them on loan, they are guaranteed to get players keen to prove themselves.

For young players at a big club, the pathway to first-team football can be a tough road. In the last six years, only Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones have been able to graduate through the Reds’ academy and become first-team regulars. One of the best in the world when it comes to the former.

So, despite the fact that Jurgen Klopp loves giving young players an opportunity to play and succeed, he cannot do that every time when the Reds are chasing perfection every time they step onto the field.

Hence, it makes sense from Cain’s and Woltman’s viewpoint that they accept the loan offers, play regular first-team football elsewhere and impress there. If they do that, then the possibility of playing for the Liverpool first-team in years to come could increase.
