Liverpool in conversations to extend the sponsorship deal with Expedia

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool FC are in talks with travel company Expedia to extend the terms of their sponsorship contract which runs through to the end of the current season.

The deal is worth £10m net per season, and the Reds have been sporting the logo of the American travel and tourism company since 2020. Representatives from either party are discussing a new contract.

Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan also spoke about how well the partnership is going and confirmed that the club are in talks over an extension. Hogan added to his words, saying the process of the extension will be similar to that of a “principal partner”.

Liverpool, earlier in the season, were also in talks with a cryptocurrency firm for sponsorship. Contrarily, the club extended their deal with Standard Chartered this July, ending speculation for a crypto-firm sponsorship.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell spoke about a potential crypto deal for Liverpool. He said that crypto is “the way forward” and people should “better get used to it”.

“I’m sure if Liverpool are the first to do this sort of deal, they won’t be the last. Other clubs will follow, 100 percent. Money talks at the end of the day.”

As long as the club is in a good position on the pitch, off-field and off-the-pitch decisions like a shirt sponsor would not matter as much, from a fan perspective. But from a club and financial standpoint, it is of utmost importance.

If the sponsorships pool in enough money for the club to invest in the squad, why not? It will ensure that we remain self-sufficient.
