Six Liverpool players nominated for the Ballon d’Or

Six Liverpool players have been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award after an exciting 2021/22 campaign that saw them come close to football immortality.

It was a memorable season for the Merseyside supporters who have seen their team take huge strides since the appointment of Jurgen Klopp. Having won two trophies and coming close to the quadruple, it comes as little surprise that the players’ abilities are gaining due recognition.

It is only reasonable that Liverpool dominated the 2022 Ballon d’Or shortlist with six players being nominated for the prestigious award. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for the UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year award.

Liverpool’s manager has been included in the UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year in a three-man shortlist alongside Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side were on the course for a historic quadruple in the 2021/22 season reaching the Champions League final and pushing Manchester City till the final day of the season.

Ultimately they came up short however they bagged two major honours with an FA Cup Victory as well as the Community Shield cup. It saw the German complete the complete set at Liverpool.

Competing for the major laurels with their manager are six players from the first-team who have been shortlisted for the 2022 Ballon D’or nominations.

The shortlisted players are Mohammad Salah, Virjil Van Dijk, Darwin Nünez, Trent Alexander Arnold, Fabinho and Luis Diaz. Former Red Sadio Mane
