It was an exciting buildup to the Derby clash between Liverpool and Manchester United on Monday night. The match certainly did not disappoint with a fiery contest between the two sides.
Contrary to how many would have predicted the result, the United side actually came out with their guns blazing and deservedly won the game 2-1.
Speaking to the club’s official website following the loss, Andy Robertson had a very direct response to the crisis at hand in the club.
“The start of the season is always a bit messy where you just try to find your feet.
We need to try to get ahead first in the game and try to put in a good performance, get our first clean sheet and get back to our basics.”
The left-back did not hold back in the post-match interview amidst the drop in form of the squad who have failed to win a single game in the Premier League till now and currently sit 16th in the league.
More than a win, it has been the performance of the squad which has found some criticism and does not resonate with a Jurgen Klopp team.
It is particularly necessary for us to start performing well amid strong competition from our rivals, Manchester City who have had a much better start with two wins and a draw.
When asked about the title race slipping away, Andy Robertson was quick to take away the question and suggested that the team concentrate on one match as it comes and stick back to basics.
It is wise on the defender’s part to come out and face the question and it made sense of his stance as thinking about a title race so early in the season will lead the team nowhere.
For now, we have to put the bad start behind us and show our full support to a team who have made us immensely proud in the last few seasons.
