“Nice arrogance”- Man United legend tips Liverpool starlet for greatness

Rio Ferdinand tips Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott for greatness

Speaking to BT Sports (h/ Liverpool Echo), Rio Ferdinand said that Harvey Elliott possessed a ‘certain arrogance’ which could be key for the player to become a superior one. Harvey was one of the better parts of the Liverpool performance against Everton on Saturday in a 0-0 draw.

Harvey started his fifth straight Premier League game this season and has been one of the brighter sparks for the club. Arguably, he has been the club’s most consistent player. Very recently, he was among the scorers in Liverpool’s 9-0 rout of Bournemouth.

Rio Ferdinand is mighty impressed with the youngster’s exploits in this campaign. He had a lot of praise to pour on the youngster.

“You’ve got to think about playing well for your club, the other stuff will take care of itself. What I will say about him [Elliott], he’s got a real, nice arrogance about him”

Jurgen Klopp has a high opinion of Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool’s most trusted youngster

The 19-year-old burst onto the season on loan at Blackburn Rovers two seasons ago. He was one of the best players in the Championship that season. He accumulated 18 goal contributions from 42 appearances for his loan club.

The former Fulham youngster had a wonderful spell of games last season, up until a horror tackle from Leeds United’s Pascal Strujik ruled him out of most of last season. Elliott kept his head high and scored in his return game against Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Rio’s praise for Harvey didn’t stop right there, and he had much more to say about Elliott and his future. He believes that Harvey is a real talent, and has loads of talent.

“We all forgot how good he was a year ago and he was a year younger before all the rubbish things happened. That’s the case, he is just that good. That’s Harvey, a real talent but we all need luck in moments. Let’s just hope that he can go through this and develop and build on this wonderful basis.”

Very recently. he penned down a new deal with the club, securing his future at Liverpool until 2027. His link-up play with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah has been creating multiple chances for the club.

Elliott only needs more goals and assists to justify his hype as that is what appears to the average football fan. His numbers do not do justice to the talent he possesses. Ferdinand was echoing the same sounds.

“A bit more output in terms of assists and goals, and he will be on his way. But a tremendous talent.”

There is a long way to go in the season, and Elliott would hope to contribute more in terms of goals and assists as well. The Reds face Napoli next in their UEFA Champions League campaign.
