Liverpool, through their social media channels, have launched the new third kit for the current season. A lush green round collar kit, the theme celebrates the Kop and the manner of their travel.
The Reds had earlier launched their home and away kit in the season. Liverpool have featured both the kits, the away kit against Manchester United in the pre-season for the first time. There were a few banners with the third kit in the city of Liverpool, but now, the launch is official.
It features a bold colourway blend of dark atomic and Rio teal, with siren red sleeve cuffs, club crest and partner logos.
The players shall don this kit on away visits in Europe and in certain Premier League games where both, the home and away kit clash with the ones of the opposition. Liverpool’s first game of the UEFA Champions League 2022/23 is on Wednesday against Napoli. The Reds are expected to wear the new kit for the same.
“The Club’s change kits have long been linked to European competitions and with the Champions League group stages back this week, LFC has taken the opportunity to salute the supporter tradition that’s a huge part of its rich European history and success.”
The footage for the kit was shot at the Olympia in Liverpool, an iconic venue for post-European matches. A local Liverpool band – The Cheap Thrills were part of the soundtrack for the footage.
Nike’s sustainable future campaign has seen all of Liverpool’s kits made from recycled fabric, and the case holds the same for the third kit too. It also features the ’97’ emblem for the remembrance of the people who unfortunately passed away in the Hillsborough Disaster.
The kit is available to pre-order on the club’s official online store and store app from today – with a full launch in-store and online from 12 September.
