As per The Mirror, Brighton and Hove Albion are now ready to discuss a new contract with 20-year-old Moises Caicedo, who has been subject to a move away from the Amex earlier in the summer, with Liverpool among the interested teams.
The Ecuadorian has also been on the radar of Manchester United and Arsenal. With Graham Potter moving from Brighton to Chelsea, it won’t be a shock if the Englishman would want to reunite with the former Beerschot loanee.
In a short Premier League career, Caicedo has impressed the onlookers. He has been on Brighton’s books since 2021 and his current contract expires in 2025. Potter, who was managing Brighton not more than a week ago, had claimed around a sum of £100m
for the youngster amidst a bid of £42m from an unknown Premier League club.“You’d probably get his boots for that from the chairman – maybe! £100m? They can try. It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him because he is playing at a fantastic level.”
To further shield the youngster’s value and keep him at the club for as long as possible, the Seagulls are apparently planning a new contract. Moreover, it will subside a certain amount of transfer speculation.
The midfielder has had a decent start to life in England and has made a big impression despite not playing much for the Seagulls. This season, he has one goal in six appearances for the club.
Caicedo garnered the attention of Liverpool fans when he went on to like a tweet
linking the player to Merseyside. Hence, it is difficult to know the ground situation on Caicedo and everything right now is merely speculation. But as far as the player is concerned, he said that he is currently “thinking” about Brighton only.“I’m not thinking about any other club than Brighton. This is the club where I am now and I will give everything for this club and to keep doing well here.”
Manager Jurgen Klopp could have a first-hand view of Caicedo this season when Liverpool take on Brighton on October 1. It remains to be seen if the game against Chelsea next weekend goes ahead after our clash against Wolves has already been postponed.
If the match against the Blues doesn’t go ahead as planned, it could mean that our next PL game is against the Seagulls, who will be without Potter since his installment as Chelsea boss. Former Reds player Adam Lallana is in charge of the team on a temporary basis.
