The Liverpool Academy is considered one of the best in the country and it is not surprising to see the number of young talent being called up for the youth national side, making it a memorable feat for the club.
It is always good to see players at the junior level getting the exposure of playing for the national team which is instrumental in their process of hopefully becoming professional footballers someday.
Keeping this in mind, we summarise the players that have been called up to the national team for four separate age groups.
In the squad selected by manager Neil Ryan for the U-18s group, Liverpool’s Bobby Clark and Ranel Young have been called up. The youngsters will begin their season with three games against the Netherlands, Faroe Island and Belgium at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.
The responsibility of the U-19s group has been given to Simon Rusk who has selected defender Isaac Mabaya and forward Oakley Cannonier from the Liverpool Academy for their upcoming 2022-23 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round.
England U-20 side goes to Spain and plays Chile, Morroco and Australia and Liverpool’s Academy goalkeeper Harvey Davies and midfielder James Balagizi (who is on loan at Crawley town) have made the cut.
England U-21 coach Lee Carsley faces two tough fixtures against Italy and Germany and has named a strong squad with our new star Harvey Elliot part of the 25-man squad. Although not technically a Liverpool yourh product, Elliott is already a first team player at his tender age.
It will be interesting to see how the young talent copes with the pressure of playing for England. However, there is no downside to the vast experience that would be provided to youngsters in paving their careers on the right trajectory.
