Liverpool join the race to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk
According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool and their Premier League rivals Arsenal have joined the race to sign 21-year-old Ukrainian winger Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk after he impressed for club and country very recently.
The youngster has got off to a quick start this season as well, scoring two goals and getting three assists from five appearances. He got his goals against Celtic and RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League, garnering attention from Europe’s elite clubs.
The war situation in Ukraine resulted in a premature ending to the league. But to that point, he got two goals and seven assists in 11 appearances. The winger was also linked to Brentford and Everton in the summer transfer window.
The youngster also has five caps for his national team. Shakhtar values their player around £30m and are expecting a figure around the same mark to part ways with their youngster. After selling Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich earlier this summer, Liverpool do not have a natural left-winger apart from Luis Diaz.
Mudryk along with playing on the wing, he can also play attacking midfield. He can be a natural back-up for Diaz in case the Colombian has to sit out, or can play in midfield as and when the situations demand him to do so.
The youngster will also reduce the average age of the squad and shall help Liverpool with the issue of fatigue, providing gaffer Jurgen Klopp with multiple options to choose from. Moreover, at only 21, Mudryk has a long future ahead of him and Liverpool could benefit from signing such a player.

There might come multiple offers for the youngster given his young age, and his value could possibly spike in the future. Hence, Liverpool should act swiftly if there is a genuine interest in the player, and try and rope in him as soon as possible.
