Transfer News: Liverpool receive big encouragement in their pursuit of teenage German forward

Liverpool handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko

According to The Liverpool Echo, Premier League giants Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko.

The 17-year-old has exploded onto the stage with a series of good showings for the Bundesliga giants this season. Moukoko made his senior debut for Dortmund in the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League group stage, becoming the youngest player to ever play in the competition.

So far, the German youth international has made 54 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and making seven assists

. While the numbers might not appear to be too prolific, the very fact that someone as young as Moukoko is able to make a mark at such a level is praiseworthy.

The 17-year-old is set to join an England-based agency, Unique Sports Management, next month. This could pave the way for him to join an English club with Liverpool keen on securing his services.

The Reds have often kept tabs on promising young players and Moukoko is no different. Liverpool have so far been impressed by the teenager’s performances. Jurgen Klopp, in particular, has also appraised the youngster’s talents.

Capable of playing as a centre-forward or as a second striker, Moukoko has the dynamism and clinical ability to develop into a match-winner. An experienced player for his age, he can be considered to be among the most talented players in his age group.

While the Reds’ interest is understandable, Moukoko joining an English agency might not align matters in our favour. This is because several other clubs based in England are also keen on the youngster. Hopefully, our connection with the Bundesliga side could help turn the tide to our advantage.

Liverpool are also interested in Dortmund star Jude Bellingham. A double swoop next summer could very well see us hit the jackpot in the years to come. But it remains to be seen if we have the financial bandwidth for such an ambitious coup.

A club of our stature should be able to dream of such signings but given our recent track record of frugal spending under Fenway Sports Group (FSG), any deal that sounds financially expensive just starts to seem a tad unrealistic.
